" It was bound to happen . . ."

So we made it and were ready for the race on June 25th. We had made even more changes to the car to make it better. It was better. The heat races had wrecks and we made it through all of those and were still doing O.K. until lap 12 of the 25 lap feature race. There had been a wreck and we were re-starting. And . . . you guessed it. There was yet another wreck. I had missed the wreck until ended up in front of me in the grass in turn #4. I was on grass and couldn't stop so I went right into it. The car took a real bad hit. The whole front of the car was cleaned off.

So real bad thing was that I hurt my neck very badly when the car stopped. I don't have a Hans device yet and it was needed here. So I am healing and fixing the car. I am afraid to say neither I, nor the car were ready for the race last night on July 9th. But we didn't miss anything because the race was rained out. So we have time now for me to get my new Hans device and finish the car. We should be ready for the next race on July 16th. Watch for updates and I hope to see you at the track……

Cheers!!!

" More Improvements for MDR . . ."

So the second race is down. As I had said in the last newsletter we had a lot of major changes to the front end of the car. The car had a very bad push in it and it was very hard to get it to turn. As usual all the changes we made did fix one problem, but also created a new one. It was tight in one end and loose in the other. We started to adjust the car again during the heat races. It did get better but was still off. The funny thing was we were supposed to start on the pole for the feature. But I chose to start at the back because we couldn't turn the car. 100 laps is a long race.

So during the race I was racing too hard and slid up and into the front straight wall. There was body damage but the car actually got quicker after that. What I didn't know was that I had a leak in my right rear tire. I could feel the car getting more and more crazy but I knew I didn't want a DNF so I stayed out. The good news is that I didn't wreck the car or get a DNF. We completed all the laps and finished 15th. So it was a good night over all. Now we just have to do some fixing up and then it is on to this Friday's race. I hope we can do even better still. See you at the track.

Cheers!!!

“ It’s a go . . . . ”

I’m like a kid in a candy store or more like the kid with the shiny new toy. On Friday May 28, 2010 we made open practice. It would seem that all of the late model teams were there to test and tune. It was hot and sunny which made stuff a little sticky but it was nice weather for driving fast at least. And as it turns out, our new motor is a good one. Drive fast we did. Real fast. Everything held together nicely and there were no problems. We were off a little bit on the set up and we worked on that but ran out of time and gas. LOL. But out times are with in a half second of the usual teams that run out front. So we should prove to be competitive at least.

So the first point’s race is this Friday June 4, 2010. We will be there. There are some things I want to change and service before the race but nothing serious. I hope to see many of you there. Look for the #95 car with the red trailer and come say hi. So like I said. It’s a go . . . . .

Cheers.

“ Let’s Try This Again . . .Shall We?”

So it is the start of the new season. There have been many changes with the car that there was no time for last year while I tried to get ready to go at all. The first change was that I started to get ready before this season started. Good start.

Last season when we finally made it to the track our engine lost oil pressure and I was not able to go out. It was the third last race of the season and the car was still clean and undamaged. So with only two races left I decided I wouldn’t be building a new motor and risk damage to the car at that point. So we moved on.

So during the off -season I pulled the motor and rebuilt it and made some changes inside and out. There should be no issues this season due to lack of time. We also addressed a couple of issues on the chassis that were on the car last year too. Again much better to go, this time around. And go around we did. On Wednesday May 19 we went to Kawartha and had some free practice time. There were two other cars there that day so we took turns. It worked out well. Our lap times were very good. We wanted to do some set up changes and do some more runs but the sky opened up and it rained. But the car worked well and our times were on line. All of this will mean we’ll be in the pack. I look forward to that.

To let you know, the first open practice of the season is on Friday May 28. Everyone should be there. It should be good too. Like I said before. “And so it begins.” Cheers . . . .
